October 2024: Back for our second Kayaking adventure on Ullswater with Leigh, owner of Tall Bloke Adventures. It was as good as we remembered and I really recommend this experience to everyone. September 2023: Enjoyed a fantastic few hours kayaking on Ullswater with my very good friend and with Leigh who is Tall Bloke Adventures. We enjoyed every minute of this experience. Leigh was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and a great all round Tall Bloke. Safety and comfort were his priorities. We learnt kayaking skills and loved the location. Loved that it was so personal, just my friend and I in one Kayak and Leigh in his, guiding us along. Leigh was happy to take photos and managed to capture the rainbow before the heavens opened. Can thoroughly recommend this.

Highly recommended! Great experience. Fantastic instructor. A great day out learning new skills, having a tour of the lake, wildlife spotting. Beautiful scenery. Full kit provided. Even in cold weather you have all you need to keep you snug and dry. We are now regulars! An absolute tonic to relieve stress and enjoy the great outdoors!

My wife and I spent a wonderful morning on Ullswater in a Kyak with Leigh. He is a top bloke (as well as tall). A great laid back tutor, but more importantly a friendly and personable guy that you’d be happy to chat to in the pub. That makes the whole thing more enjoyable.
An Idyllic setting on the south end of Ullswater at Glenridding, good instruction, stunning views and most of all good fun. If you only have time to do one thing while you’re at Ullswater, then do this!

A very pleasant and wonderful fun evening spent with Tall Bloke Leigh. He was so helpful - particularly encouraging our 14 year old son who had a great time. We learnt lots and would very highly recommend this activity.

I’ve just returned from a kayaking adventure with Leigh (the very tall bloke from Tall Bloke Adventures) and all I can say is WOW!
I cannot thank Leigh enough for the amazing experience it was. He is an excellent instructor and very patient with the complete novice I was. He takes care of all the important things, makes you feel safe and very reassured, and great that he takes photos of your experience so you don’t have to worry about dropping your phone attempting to do so yourself. It’s a very easy location to find, and all the information on the website is detailed and useful.
Leigh makes the whole session very enjoyable, he’s great company with all his local knowledge of all things Lake District related, and a great sense of humour too. I can’t recommend Leigh highly enough.

My brother & I had an amazing experience kayaking on Ullswater with Leigh. He was professional & put us both at ease straight away with his organisation & humour. The games he arranged were good fun & a brilliant way to teach & develop technique. We would both recommend his services & would definitely return ourselves!

Absolutely brilliant.
Leigh is great guy, great instructor and great with the stories.
We had an amazing morning kayaking on Ullswater in the glorious sunshine.
We cannot stop talking about amazing the experience was.
Leigh is full of knowledge about the valley, he is very experienced so we all felt very safe and his equipment is top notch.

It was an amazing canoe day with Leigh. Not only he provided insightful commentary about the surroundings but he also encouraged us to share our own stories throughout the session. We played games which spiced up the day then glided. through serene waters. I recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for a canoe adventure that combines good conversation and fun.

Amazing experience of kayaking out on the beautiful lake, brilliant company and conversations with Leigh, absolutely had a blast will be back again this year, cannot keep away as it is an amazing experience and so calming. I highly recommend Leigh kayaking tour. My husband, 11 and 14 years old children and I had the most amazing time kayaking with Leigh this week. Everything was nicely prepared for us when we arrived:.dry Kayaks, buoyancy aid/ safety jackets, gloves, waterproof jackets and trousers in case we hadn’t brought ours. Everything was there. He then explain in a very clear way the basics of security, safety and kayaking. We were impressed by the beauty of Ullswater and its stunning dramatic automnal setting. Leigh guided us on the waters while giving us very interesting information and facts. He had also organised some funny games that kept us adults and children entertained. Thank you Leigh for this unforgettable experience and family memories.

Highly recommend!!! Fantastic time with Leigh out on the lake! My husband and I are in our 60’s and although we’re pretty active I had some trepidation about kayaking today. Leigh put any fears to rest. He explains everything thoroughly and emphasizes safety. After that we could just take in the beauty of the lake and enjoy the fun and thought provoking conversation with Leigh. He’s professional, smart, patient and knowledgeable. You’ll be happy you went. Also, the kayaking games he plays on the outing are an added bonus!

Had an absolutely incredible session, I honestly can't recommend him enough. We had a early start and went over time a little so I could pick his brain and practice extra skills.
Amazing (as well as tall) bloke, great conversations throughout the session, with bonus life advice if you ask nicely!

I have been on Leigh's kayak tour three times now, and each time has been an absolute joy. I love bringing new friends along to share in the experience. This experience was magical, Leigh is so professional and experienced, we feel safe to do all the challenges and exploring without holding back or having any concerns. He prepared all the equipments not only the kayak but also all the warm clothing, sun cream etc, just in case if you don't have them. The location is incredible, and you will get a chance to explore the lack, the water, the wind. He also takes amazing photos, we loved every single pictures he took! Highly recommend this to all couples and families, with all kind of experience level, Leigh will take good care of you, don't worry and just enjoy :)

I recently had the pleasure of going kayaking on Ullswater lake with Leigh and it was an incredible experience that exceeded all my expectations. Leigh is a true expert in kayaking and his passion is truly contagious. He provided us with all the necessary equipment and safety briefing before we got on the water, and made us feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire journey.
The scenery on Ullswater lake is breathtaking, and kayaking is definitely the best way to experience it. Leigh took us to some amazing spots that we wouldn't have found on our own, and he provided us with fascinating insights into the local history and ecology of the lake.
Leigh is an excellent teacher and his instructions were clear and concise, making the experience enjoyable and challenging in all the right ways. His enthusiasm for kayaking is infectious, and he had genuine interest in getting to know us and made us feel like we were part of a community of fellow kayakers.
